It's the final countdown - Matchday 38 is where every remaining issue will be decided. At the top, Lyon and Bordeaux fight for the title, while Nancy and Marseille contest third, and Lille, St Etienne and Rennes battle for Europe.

With one match remaining, Rennes playmaker Jérôme Leroy has opened a slight gap between himself and his challengers at the top of the chart which acknowledges the role of those who create the goals for their scorers.

Sochaux's Mr Success to stand down
After nine successful seasons, Jean-Claude Plessis is to retire as President of Sochaux. The club announced that as of 1 July, he will be succeeded by Alexandre Lacombe.

Grenoble are back in the big time
After 45 years, Grenoble will be playing their football in Ligue 1 again next season. Their 0-0 draw with Chateauroux on Matchday 37, coupled with a 1-0 defeat for Troyes at home to Sedan, meant they cannot be caught on the final day.

Pagis has Goal of the Week
Rennes striker Mickaël Pagis has the accolade of Goal of the Week for Matchday 37 for his audacious backheel flick which brought the equaliser in the 2-1 defeat of Toulouse.

Lyon stay top thanks to a win over Nancy (1-0) while Bordeaux beat Sochaux (2-0). Strasbourg are relegated while PSG move out of the bottom three as they draw against St Etienne (1-1) and both Toulouse and Lens lose.
